What is Gréasán Gaeilge na hEarnála Poiblí?

Gréasán Gaeilge na hEarnála Poiblí is the new network established to bring together people who work in the public sector and are interested in using, practicing or developing their Irish at regular events. An average of 4 major events are planned to be be held per year, together with other regional, special interest and various competency level events.

We are dedicated to serving all public service personnel who wish to: 

  • Connect with Irish speakers;

  • Attend events as Gaeilge on a regular basis or even occasionally;

  • Get away for short, one-week or weekend trips with Irish-speaking friends who share similar interests and wish to enjoy pleasurable pursuits with congenial company;

  • Enjoy their favourite hobbies and leisure activities as Gaeilge; and/or

  • Pursue a new interest or hobby while immersed in our native language.

Can I be part of Gréasán Gaeilge na hEarnála Poiblí?

We provide networking opportunities for:

  • Civil service personnel;

  • Employees in the public sector in general;

  • Professional / technical groups such as doctors, nurses, teachers, members of An Garda Síochána, bus drivers etc.

Do I have a sufficient level of Irish to join Gréasán Gaeilge na hEarnála Poiblí?

People of all levels will be welcomed, from the learner to the fluent Irish speaker and all levels in between. Separate events will be held for groups of similar abilities as well as mixed events for all levels.

We cater for public sector employees:

  • who use Irish in their work;

  • who wish to develop their competence in the language;

  • who are preparing to move to an Irish speaking position within in the public sector in the future;

  • who are interested in getting to know other people in the public sector who speak Irish; &

  • who want to be part of an Irish speaking on a regular basis, or even occasionally.
